Does anyone have any ideas if borders don't open how the parents can turn the association into a functional and democratic institution serving the development of the kids? Right now, the current board can (and does) block all newcomers or dissenting voices.
That's the million dollar question... other than complaining to the OMHA and Hockey Canada enough so they launch an investigation, I'm at a loss. find a way to play somewhere else, albeit not really legal, but Aurora parents are stuck.

LMFAO i needed a laugh this morning. There were at least two other applicants, and the only person he's doing favors for is himself.
You know what else you need besides a laugh? A JOB!

The system is set up you to continue to have to use them for minor hockey.

Hopefully with open borders, it would solve a lot of the issues you are having with them.

These boards are all locked down tight and with restrictions in place, you have nowhere else to go. Doesn't matter how many loud voices you bring with you to the table, your complaints fall on deaf ears. The way to really make people think is to see registrations drop off significantly. That's the only way to really enact change. As long as people are buying their crappy product, nothing will change.

Even if open borders happen, it would be great to see Aurora hockey stay put. This current setup is not conducive to turning the ship around, not how to do this without putting your own kids in harms way. This association is the case study OHF & OMHA should be looking at - addresses are actually putting 1000 families in hockey prison.

So true, and been that way for years. The executive does not give a rats ass about the players or families. They won't listen to any collective concerns but instead rally their wagons and bully the families into submission or their kid pays the price on the bench or at tryouts. They sell "hometown hockey" in Aurora but believe me, there are a good number backroom deals to friends and families going on in the association. And don't forget the kickbacks - remember when you could only get team banners made by the former president's brother's company? They were the only approved supplier. Where there is one deal like that it's not hard to know there are other shady deals going on.

couldn't agree with this more. Similar deal with Lions share and the association. Worst supplier I've ever seen. Nothing will change here, because at the end of the day, we all have no choice but to register in Aurora or our sons don't play hockey.

Unfortunately they have you by the short and curlys. People will just put up with it cuz there is nowhere else to go.

The movements are very restrictive and it's organizations like this that will fight to keep borders closed.

If you run a good program, people will find you and stay. The masses are fed up that they don't have a choice.

That's just it right there, though the masses are fed up, unhappy, ready to leave... there's nowhere for us to go. Unless you kid can make AAA there's no way out, with the exception of the infamous fake divorce thing. The association will remain what it is, with CS running it into the ground, I mean he already lost an entire age group on his watch, maybe he'll lose another. .. coaches like the egotistical control freak who actually thinks he's doing the kids and parents a favor by coaching. Maybe if enough people complain to the OMHA they will have to listen, but my optimism is quickly fading.

1. Join the board
2. Leave, go play Klever or any other rouge league
3. Start a petition, if this is as widespread as you say then you have to be able to get enough signatures to get attention
4. Stay off this site, makes you claims illegitimate and makes you look like a trouble maker
