Do people think summer tournaments actually help their kids get better? Regardless of what other players are there?
Parents are so stupid
They are. It's all about putting it up on Instagram as well. OH look everyone, my kid is playing on a team with some kids who went to the brick and the MVP of the Brick from last year is here too. Their hockey goodness will just oooze into my kid.
But what’s worse tho? Coaches who try to associate themselves with top kids to sell their money maker hockey school brand?
Most coaches aren't getting paid. There seem to be a few who've started tournament teams and skills places who do this by constantly flashing the top kids...as if they had to do anything with why they're good. My humble recommendation would be don't go with a youth coach who is getting paid. I can't fault coaches who have started a business though simply because there are so many idiotic parents willing to pay lots of money for their kid
SI pays most of the coaches thats the only way you get sleaze balls like AB of the reps out. If you know better you aren't having anything to do with these tournaments.
another post by a reps parent cut! for a shitty team, these guys sure get a lot of air time!!!
SI pays their coaches. Its a cash cow machine that everyone gets a cut from. Only losers are the parents stupid enough to sign their kids on to play on all the fodder teams and not the 2 stacked teams that will win it all.

Did it once, never again. Our coach basically told us it's a showcase tourney. Pay $$$ for more ice time and all star selection.
