Once AAA teams are picked in the fall, the OHF will be announcing Open Borders in Ontario for 2025/26 season. All levels all age groups. Play where you want is coming.
No more residential transfers, no more waivers, no more releases. Its coming.
Alright... AAA teams are picked... is this still happening? any leads or when an announcement might be made? before or after coaches are selected?

A change like this could destroy smaller "B" centres at the rep level. I have read similar posts regarding the possibility of rep being strictly A, AA and AAA and anything below LL/HL. A lot of smaller centres are already either amalgamating to create A/AA centres or just going on their own. Do they see the writing on the wall or have inside knowledge? Time will tell but either way, the 2025/26 season could be interesting.
The plan is
1. Open all border, just like girls hockey or the USA
2. Form an AAA Elite league for top players to play top players current SCTA & OMHA combine centre merge into a 10 team league, you have seen it start to happen with north Shore and Richmond hill , soon COW & NCP.
3. Eliminate rep in below A Centres , everything else will be a form of select some centres may offer multiple entries like 2-AA & 2-A teams like Whitby if they can be competitive.

Hockey is declining not because of open borders but because of cost for the total sport, entry, equipment, development, now the model will allow the best rec hockey for kids and the best competitive hockey for those who choose.

It’s already in motion, OHF is not upfront or concerned with our feedback. If they don’t go this way they have been told they will be taken to court and most likely disbanded.
This is happening because they're losing entire age groups to Klevr. New kids signing up is down 40% in most centres.
Klevr registration is down 38% and 1/4 of the teams from last year folded. KSL is not a threat.

It is happening. It will be before coaches are picked. They’re going to have to shake up coaches. No one wants to play for a guy with the hockey IQ of a softball.

I call bull shit. Show me the proof with team numbers

I can only see it continue to grow and I love seeing competition for our dollar. In the end it’ll benefit us as the consumer

Open borders isn't trying to fix anything in AAA, they don't care about AAA and most conplaints are not coming from there. It's really an argument for AA\A\BB\B-D\MD. Also what is up with Guelph making up their own new tier ADP? Above select but below MD? Do we really need more tiers of hockey.

Open them up and 90% of the problems will fix themselves and we all can finally move on from this. Every other sport has open borders just hockey is still stuck in the dark ages. The roman empire fell and yes your association might too. But whose fault is that. Stop putting rules in place to help poorly run associations.
