OHF Opening borders??
Re: OHF Opening borders??
Requesting releases is the biggest joke in minor hockey. they never get accepted and thats why kids fake address changes or divorces become they have no other way to get their kids out of their centre or into the G
Re: OHF Opening borders??
If they don’t sign you by a certain date, a AAA centre has to grant a release. It is only at AA and below that your kid is “owned” and has to be “released” from their centre. This has to end. If a kid needs a change of scenery because they live in the coach’s dog house, let them go. AA, A and B centres tend to be a lot closer together geographically but the boards would never grant a release to play in another town, that is 15 minutes away… So many power-tripping volunteers on those boards.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 2:50 pm Requesting releases is the biggest joke in minor hockey. they never get accepted and thats why kids fake address changes or divorces become they have no other way to get their kids out of their centre or into the G

I agree with the argument of kids getting pushed down to AA because of a bad situation, but don’t you think it’ll just become more of a popularity contest?Guest wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 1:12 pmGuest wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 12:54 pm Should let GTHL teams have 4 imports starting U10
Maybe? But, the whole system needs to change for OMHA If you are going to allow that.
The kids are going to goto the G either way, but you can't screw over OMHA in the meantime. I'd suggest based on players home address in OMHA kids should be able to play for any one of the three closest teams by geography.
This fixes the issue of teams having kids from 100km away to form super teams. But it allows kids to get away from situations they don't want to be in. Plus it improves AAA quality because there will be more kids that SHOULD be in AAA instead of them getting pushed down to AA because of a bad situation.

If you are good you are trapped. Have experience with it. They play the nice guy card until the night before tryouts. Then screw you.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 9:58 pmIf they don’t sign you by a certain date, a AAA centre has to grant a release. I’ve heard stories of kids sitting out or missing parts of a season to avoid certain coaches and toxic situations.
The AAA kids need the options.

Any good player will be offered a spot. You can’t just not go to tryouts so the point stands you are owned by them till releasedGuest wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 9:58 pmIf they don’t sign you by a certain date, a AAA centre has to grant a release. Re: OHF Opening borders??
That's it right there, power tripping volunteers and their cronies. Minor hockey is riddled with them, and it'll never stop. Can't even be honest on coaches reviews, because our association shows the coaches what is said, and everyone is afraid to speak up and have it taken out on their kid.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 9:58 pmIf they don’t sign you by a certain date, a AAA centre has to grant a release. 2. Volunteers who powertrip are the joke of the organization and once they no longer volunteer they’ll see that everyone really hated them all along
3. OHF needed to be more specific in their release, or say nothing. They are causing gossip and speculation and the hockey world does not need more of that

Not 100% sure what you mean by that.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 10:11 pmI agree with the argument of kids getting pushed down to AA because of a bad situation, but don’t you think it’ll just become more of a popularity contest?Guest wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 1:12 pmGuest wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 12:54 pm Should let GTHL teams have 4 imports starting U10

I am not saying kids aren't brought in because they are friends with other kids, but I think no matter what system that is going to happen.
actually, in this case, its possible this sorta fixes this issue because there is a higher chance that a kid that is much better is available to them now so they take them instead of the "friend".
Maybe I missed the point of what you meant?

I agree they have opened themselves up for the wild west of opinions at this point, but who cares? That stuff happens no matter what. I think they are grasping at straws right now. Love or hate KSL, the fact it exists has put pressure on OHF to fix their long standing BS policies.
Re: OHF Opening borders??
It’s simple as this. KSL already has all the best kids in AAA or AA in their programs up until U9. The easiest sale is the one that you’ve already made.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 8:39 amPoint 3....Guest wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 7:12 am1. The T1 programs are stronger than any average AAA by far. It is not inconceivable that the KSL continues into U10 and beyond at some point. If you think the OHF doesn’t see this well then you’re sorely mistaken.
Competition improves offering for everyone.
