Does this apply to goalies also? Imagine your second goalie is nowhere as good as your main one and you are in the finals...

No one will do equal ice time especially on top teams. Maybe the mid pack and bottom feeders have problems, bur top teams will be quiet as a church

Canadian hockey is falling behind. Coaches need to put their ego aside and focus on development. There are plenty of good kids who didn't go far because coaches focused on winning. It's often too late once these early superstars realize that winning isn't sufficient.

hmmm.... some of you have fair and equal a$$ backwards. kids that put in the extra effort, the ones that shoot pucks and train on off days, the ones who focus on eating well and getting enough sleep because it pays dividends in terms of their performance, the ones who are focused on developing on and off the ice... those kids typically earn the most ice. If your kid is gaming 2 hours a day, not eating clean, nott getting proper rest, not training when they're away from the rink, than your kid doesn't deserve the same ice as someone who is doing these things. this assumes they're in a competitive program.

FAIR IS NOT EQUAL. fair is rewarding hard work. all you people whining that your kid isn't getting ice, look at their work ethic off the ice and then put forth your arguments. I have zero qualms with my kid riding the pine if he isn't putting in the work. the lesson is clear here and it's what all the snowflakes out there haven't learned. coaches are there to develop your kids but your kids have to actually put in the work even after they leave the rink if they want to develop at the same rate as someone who does.

One of the major issues is a lack coaches and most associations are willing to take anyone on who is willing to volunteer.

This is the issue when we are talking about development is that we are leaving it in the hands of volunteers.

There is something to be said about paying coaches, which I know will drive up the cost but if you take your kids to swimming lessons, dance, karate, to name a few, it's not volunteers coaching your kids. So why not pay coaches?

You need to broaden your thinking , it is a bit caveman like and yes I know you don’t not think that to be the case!

That rule applies to U10 and U11 only as per the 24/25 GTHL rule book.
