2010 GTHL AA West
Re: 2010 GTHL AA West
Heard TRW and NYR aaa looking to both rebuild under new coaching next year. Is there any benefit to go to a losing aaa team from a top AA team for one year?
Re: 2010 GTHL AA West
Jets vs Caps on Thursday is key for both teams.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 9:45 am Terrriers are starting to slip. looks like they are locked for 6 place now with only a few game remaining.
Caps and Wolverines seem to be battling for the 7th spot with the Wolverines having the easiest schedule. Jets would have to upset some tough teams to make a run for it now

Caps will finish 9th.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 11:27 amJets vs Caps on Thursday is key for both teams.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 9:45 am Terrriers are starting to slip. looks like they are locked for 6 place now with only a few game remaining.

Re: 2010 GTHL AA West
Jets may only have 1 more win in their schedule. If they are lucky maybe 2 if they beat the Caps. It wont make a difference. Caps have enough points to make the 7th spot. Wolverines is the wild card hereGuest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 12:14 pmCaps will finish 9th.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 11:27 amJets vs Caps on Thursday is key for both teams.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 9:45 am Terrriers are starting to slip. looks like they are locked for 6 place now with only a few game remaining.

Re: 2010 GTHL AA West
Very well could. Wolverines schedule is just so weak that they might fall into the playoffs. Serious question though, what is better coming 7 or 8 or missing the playoffs?Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 12:14 pmCaps will finish 9th.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 11:27 amJets vs Caps on Thursday is key for both teams.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 9:45 am Terrriers are starting to slip. looks like they are locked for 6 place now with only a few game remaining.

8th won't get a point off of VR, and gets 2 extra games.
7th, maybe gets a point off Eagles or Beast but at most gets 3 extra games.
9th and lower at least has the Clancy to play in and much more than 2-3 games extra. Honestly just miss, it'll be more fun and better in the long run.
Re: 2010 GTHL AA West
Not as easy as you think. In the draft year you will start to see 2nd line players on top teams move to mid pack/bottom teams to be 1st line for more ice time. To move from AA to AAA in the draft year as a defense you need to be 6ft 175lbs already with a plus/minus of 20. And as a forward would need at least 40 goals in season already. As a goalie even harder unless you can settle for the backup.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 9:58 am Heard TRW and NYR aaa looking to both rebuild under new coaching next year. Interesting when comparing the provincial rank of teams this year vs last year. What's everyone thoughts on whether is coaching or players which caused the the better/worse?
Improved Teams:
Beast - ranked 8 vs 74 last year
Jets - ranked 37 vs 53 last year
Terriers - ranked 24 vs 30 last year
Sharks - ranked 70 vs 75 last year
Eagles - ranked 3 vs 6 last year
West Mall - ranked 76 vs 79 last year
No change:
Rangers - ranked 1 vs 1 last year
Wolverines - ranked 57 vs 57 last year
Rattlers - ranked 18 vs 17 last year
Train wrecks:
Streetsville - ranked 87 vs 78 last year
Northstars - ranked 26 vs 15 last year
Caps - ranked 59 vs 40 last year
Toros - ranked 63 vs 35 last year
Panthers - ranked 91 vs 21 last year

Anything can happen. If Jets win Thursday then it opens the door for a lot of things.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 12:21 pmJets may only have 1 more win in their schedule. Clancy is a great option and would be more fun but there is at least a prestige to making the playoffs.

This is interesting. I would say a combination of both. The Beast were basically the Rattlers last year with other improvements so would say Beast is a combination of coach and players. Rattlers was a rebuild but again would be combination of coaching and players. The Panthers are weaker players as they went with an A squad. Caps is coaching as they upgraded players but ended up worse this year and based on previous threads it hasn't been a positive experience. Northstars is players as they lost a few to AAA and coaching is part time. WestMall and Sharks is better coaching.
This is some interesting stuff
Re: 2010 GTHL AA West
Apparently NYR are only asking 5-6kids back and looking for a starting (80%) goalie, top min D and Fwds obv. My question is does being on a losing impact my son’s ability to get noticed if he’s playing top line min?Guest wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 12:43 pmNot as easy as you think.
