Other countries were all playing and training like normal for the 3-4 years. I’ve seen American and Swedish prospects at this age, and they’re much better. It’s not even close. The Canadian 09 players have no edge work or skating, which is a must at the NHL level.
I agree. Every other draft class is much stronger. This is a lost year due to lockdowns.
Not sure if you're aware, but lockdowns ended a few years ago. If any 09 doesn't make it because of poor skating/skills, it's not because they were not playing in u13.

Cope harder. They missed key years of development that they will never get back. This is a very watered down year due to skill issues and kids quitting.

Baloney...

This group is as good as any...they won't be burnt out & sick of hockey by the time they're 18.

How come so many kids are begging to play AAA, especially the average types? What do you really think is going to become of it? Do you think you will make OHL? NHL? Is it your parents dream? Are you not average in anything else? Boggles the mind.

1 JW
2 CW
3 KM
4 RE
5 MD
6 NL
7 CM
8 AK
9 BC
10 BL
Player selection pretty good. Order is little off
4 kids will be letdown on this list. It doesn't account for the 3 or 4 top 10 picks coming from the US, one likely going as high as 2 or 3 overall.

Time will tell. When you have 09’s who can barely skate, it makes me questions how much you know about this game and what it takes to make the NHL. You’re living in looney tune man, looney tunes.

There’s a few OK players. But majority of players out there have zero business playing the sport or evening touching ice. I bet there’s try hard dads at shinny who can do circles around these kids, which is pathetic.

Guest wrote: Sun Mar 30, 2025 11:34 am Nearly half the players on the GTHL’s Don Mills Flyers are Asian. It could be the start of a trend?

As the No. 1 ranked under 16 team in the province, the Don Mills Flyers have been making the rounds of the OHL lately, where teams try to sell some of the most promising 15 year old hockey players in the country on their programs.

In its 2023-24 annual report, 67.3 per cent of all GTHL players in the competitive stream identified as white, while 5.9 per cent were East Asian. That second number is sure to increase if, as Tom Cumming suggested, the parents with kids here now pass on their experiences.
Just want to make a correction for you. Don Mills is not regarded top team anymore. Jrc is, as they won the OHL Cup
No they aren’t. You guys can’t even make a semis. Fly king a game you were thoroughly out played and out shot makes you lucky. Not the best
Semi? Jrc won the Final Boss game!
Jrc is top U16 Team in Ontario.
The only thing ppl remember from last seasons 08s is that OR won OHL Cup. VK blew it just like Don Milly
That’s what happens when the Titans take you to 5 games and both teams battalions get severely depleted. It’s unlucky Titans and DMF had to face each other in the semis. They put another beating on one another. DMF had a great final considering how beat up they were. They should be proud.

And JRC played 8 games, whats your point excuses?
