Top 10 maybe. That coach is a joke.

Hockey is a business for most of these coaches and orgs. They care more about the bottom line than the team on the ice.

I agree… that’s why the guys who run the AAA portion of the orgs should be forced to go out and watch a set number of practices and games to evaluate and factor that in when picking the coaches… a performance evaluation like people who work at bigger companies… but I guess it’s too much work for volunteer positions… should do something though, it’s getting ridiculous…. Not just OMHA West, but East as well and certainly the G… there are enough good paid coaches that you can do actual evaluations

Trying to figure out the business part of it. Correct me if im wrong, these organizations are supposed to be non profit, correct? I understand coaches make some money for their time, nothing to live off of thats for sure, and some make extra on "development" skates outside of team stuff. When the books are supposed to balance, what money is there to be made? Honest question

Ya the orgs look at the books and ‘evaluate’.
Then the Canadian hockey brain trust can’t understand why Canada can’t compete with the rest of the world.
So much for ‘non profit’.

The money we talk of comes in little envelopes and isn’t on the ledgers.

I can see how that helps the coach, but unless a dad (which I know the G has plenty) is dropping money directly to the Org and says this age group is mine, it will be evidnt the team is built around a certain kid, but at that point if daddy has that much cash, he will be paying the way for other top players to surround his kid with and make look better. But again not really benefitting the org, other than the original deposit! And the recognition of a "good" team maybe?

I believe that the teams in the GTHL are "supposed" to be registered as "Non-profits" but we all know someone is making a ton of money.

The budgets for some teams I have seen range from $80,000 - $100,000+. I have run teams in the past and can tell you that it only costs half of that at most. Someone is taking home a lot of extra money. Sure the books may say money went to all these places but when dealing in cash, there's no trial.............
