What happens though with U18 tryouts in the spring?
U18 tryouts are in the fall just like always. Aren’t they?
Yup
Tryouts are just a way for organizations to make money. If you don’t have a spot on a U18 team already, you’re going to be playing for a bottom feeder team.

Tryouts are a fundraiser, you are correct but many kids think they have a spot only to be beat out or pushed to the fourth line because of a kid that showed well at tryouts-
Additionally, for many it is better to be a go to player on a lesser team than I bench kid on a top team

You mean to tell me you actually think this poorly written post is by a mom?? It’s 100% by a dad who has a huge boiler and can’t skate.
Isn’t everyone heading to JR A? All this talk about U18. Who cares? JRA is where it’s at and if you are considering JR B or JR C don’t waste your money on an expensive beer league.

The OJ sucks too
So does NCAA. You only play 36 games a season then its 6 months of skating around pylons getting ready to play once a week like a beer league team again.

Every year, Almost every OHL draft pick from the 3rd to about the 7th rounds are playing in the GOJHL or CCHL and maybe a few in the OJHL, but not as many. OHL teams wouldnt send their important players to Development leagues like this if its what you describe as a beer league. I'd stick to following amatuer golf, you are way off here....
