For second year u18s do most already have a junior team lined up or do they go through summer skating with teams trying to find one ? Seems like some could have played last game and never known
Most will not have a junior team lined up, many think they do.
Summer skates, pre camps, main camps, start of season player movement will all determine where most will play next year.
If you wanna play there is a spot for you, just how bad do you want it will be the question.
For some they may have played there last game of decent hockey.
What happens though with U18 tryouts in the spring?
I don't understand the question
What's not to understand? What happens in u18 tryouts with the kids who may play jr. Still sign then leave ?
It is not hard to figure.
Coach signs 9 F and 5 D
Will have 2 to 3 F’s and 1 to 2 D with real junior possibilities willing to sign if they don’t make it. On the flip side will have the same amount of “other players” to fill in if kids sign with a jr. team.
Sign both goalies early if you can and move on

U18 tryouts are in the fall just like always. Aren’t they?
Yup

Tryouts are just a way for organizations to make money. If you don’t have a spot on a U18 team already, you’re going to be playing for a bottom feeder team.
