Did you really cite MHR as evidence? Why not look how the rankings are calculated. Its based on difficulty of schedule and how many goals on average you win or lose by. So when you play shi t teams your schedule difficulty will be low, but youll beat them by a lot which will boost your rankings. Comparing points of teams who never play against eachother in a regular season game!! Brilliant!!
It's easy to see that the East falls off pretty quick after the top 2 teams. West is a deeper loop.
