Brick 2025

Post by Guest »

Watching the Brick this year got me thinking towards next year, and how the 2015 birth year Brick teams will look.

Neither team were very successful this year after both having pretty successful years in 2023. Thinking both teams will need to make some major changes if they're wanting to remain competitive at the Brick when these other teams start loading up. How are we thinking both teams will end up looking? Which team do you think will end up being stronger?

How will Toronto stack up against some of the other notoriously strong teams like CJR, Boston, BC, Minnesota?

The 2014 birth year has been chirped relentlessly for its lack of skill but both teams have performed well so far.

Do teams complete a tryout process to build their squads. Or solely built off being invited to play?

If the teams are picked why hold evaluations this month for the bulldogs?
Former parent of a brick kid. The teams aren’t fully chosen until March. Kids are chosen from a combo of attending the evaluations (my son went to one Ph and one TB in the summer) but mainly both organizations attend many games for months and will watch your child play. Also loyalty plays into it. If you haven’t been a bulldog since pup and another kid has and same level talent they are choosing the kid that’s been a bulldog for years. My kid wasn’t chosen until middle February.
Is the evaluation process from a 'third party'? Outside of Coach or any member of the existing Bulldog team.
No third party. Coaches choose the team.
Can we ask for a third party if we pay the money for the skates?
That isn’t how it works, can’t string you along and keep collecting fees if you know that there are 80 kids out, and there is only 1 spot. Individual evaluations would lead to better teams and less grift for the “coaches” who will fleece you for 3 years before the tournament then drop you last minute…

As a parent of a Brick alumni player…know what you are getting into. Is it pay to play? Yes. Is it based on talent? Yes. Is it based on loyalty? Yes. (Aka going to all the development slates and paying top dollar). Is it a fair process? No. The two teams in Ontario are based on license ownership. That is why no Ontario teams will ever win another title. It’s a shame, because we have some incredible talent here.

Having said that, if you get to go, soak it all in because it’s an amazing experience once you get past the egos, crappy coaching and favouritism.

All I want for Christmas is a Brick invite for my kid. Nothing yet under the tree or on my text.

Any locks for the TBD? Heard two top DMF players getting the invite.

No one outside the G will make either Ontario team.

It is a lot harder to rip people off with development skates when they live far away. Too bad these clowns don’t have to compete, otherwise neither of the orgs would have Brick Teams. FYI - I heard there are two WW players but after that the teams are all G. That is a joke and they will lose.

Almost the 2nd week of Jan and both teams haven’t announced anyone, it’s a bit strange
Not getting the talent they really need to excel at Brick? Quebec announced the full roster a few months back

Better kids are being scooped up by someone who doesn't believe in all the Brick hype and resources needed.

Just popped on here after having a few drinks and reminiscing about the old days. My son was a 06 and was on a brick team; also was a GTHL kid. No one on TB or PH that is any good will pay for tryouts/fees. This is a cash grab for the local Toronto hockey mob to make money hand over fist. One you goombah's figure out that your kids only chance is he is a great athlete or your wife struts her huge boobs and BBL Infront of the coaches, or you pay a $$$ of cash for a spot. 06 kids who did well were : Hage, Senneke, Parekh, Battaglia
