I totally get it—attention is hard to come by these days. Still, giving yourself a pat on the back like that? Peak maturity.

Truly inspiring. Be better.
LOL an award giving to him by his fellow board members.

Volunteer award should not be going to a board member.

If he received an outside the organization volunteer award, then yes, congrats, but an internal award voted for by your fellow board members? Just laughable

Richmond Hill Minor Hockey is $699
Stouffville Minor Hockey Association is $750
Upper York is $750

Aurora is $975.

Aurora had around 1,000 kids last year - this increase should generate an additional $225,000 for an association that boasts one of the longest and most followed complaint boards in all of minor hockey. I very much hope all of this additional revenue is going to the kids development and NOT to consulting fees for directors or other un-hockey related operating expenses.
Nothing is going to change until they see registrations start to fall off or if there is enough demand to review the books, budget and expenditures to see where the money is going.

As long as they have 1000 families willing to pay the money, they aren't going to change anything.

This is the biggest issue with minor hockey. No one knows where all this money goes. These are supposed to be non profits that are there to provide a cheap recreational activity for kids but somewhere along the way, someone has figured out how to monetize it and line their pockets.

I have run teams before and let me say that no one has ever questioned where the money went or asked to see my budget because with fundraising, sponsorships and some DIY stuff, my fees were so low, you would have to question why I was doing it so cheap!

How was the AGM last night? Everyone satisfied on where the organization is heading into the 2025/2026 season?

The awards is a cover up. Corby knows what this town has to say about what a poor excuse of a coach/human being MM is. EVERYONE hates him (even Newmarket can’t stand him). Most dedicated?? Most dedicated abuser is what he is. You couldn’t pay me to leave my son alone in a room with this loser. He’s super creepy. Let the community effing vote!

Other awards were received were they not? Why only post this on the FB page? Trying to prove something? Time to share this thread so it can be known region wide. MM needs to be voted out!!!

This sums up minor hockey at its finest. MM awarded for his time, irregardless of how his volunteering was to the detriment of so many young players?! The majority of his previous teams have all decided to play elsewhere or at a lower level- all to avoid playing for him again. But yes. Let's give him an award. Forget the kids and their experiences! Another post got it right. Smoke and mirrors.

One award winner. One organization that has lost 500K in 3 years. Zero accountability.

People should be glad that AMHA is aggressively pushing this award for MM onto parents—it just shows that AMHA is well aware many have seen this thread and know how poorly MM is regarded.

This. Is. A. Great. Perspective.

It's very true.

Once again - a few people on a thread do not represent all of Aurora. You give yourselves way too much credit in thinking this was awarded to MM to balance out a few disgruntled people who have posted here. He got the award because he deserved it whether you agree or not.
