Guest wrote: ↑Thu Apr 24, 2025 12:11 pmlol ok bud, you clearly don’t have a kid who has been through it. Watching the OHL cup does not compare to living the transition to big boy hockey, and remember those kids are the elite of the U16 who already made it through the grind of U14/15. Size is not everything but it is a huge factor and we will see kids who don’t have size and grit drop off. When puberty hits you will see some kids a full foot+ taller than others and it does make a difference. 5’ kids need to be exceptionally fast and skilled and tough to get around and get out of corners with 6’ kids. Some smaller kids will push through but to say size and grit are not factors is laughable.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Apr 22, 2025 3:41 pmYes there will be a ton of changes going into U14 and even more going into U15, after everything shakes out with hitting and growth spurts. It’s a whole new game when some kids shoot up to 6’ overnight. The whole landscape will change in 1-2 years.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Apr 22, 2025 1:32 pmAgreed on all points. I’ve put 2 kids through this sport and it’s amazing to see how many kids drop off after the first year of hitting. Next year coaches should be looking for the gritty kids and the ones who look to make a play.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Apr 22, 2025 12:48 pmHate to break it to all the crazies....this year doesn't matter...have been through it with 2 older boys and U14 changes everything...the little quick kids with good hands that won't go in a corner get eliminated fast...or the concussions get them next year....the big and/or dumb kids with no hockey IQ can't hack it either when the game speeds up and it's not just end to end stupidity...they have to make plays and can't read the playbook......just find a good non parent coach that will pick athletes and intelligent hockey players.....surround yourself with that and kids with good genetics (all these 5'5" dads walking around on platform shoesGuest wrote: ↑Tue Apr 22, 2025 11:27 amBingo. It’s probably the most important development year. The makeup of all of these teams will change for U14. You should be looking for a team with a top tier development plan, not just any AAA team.Guest wrote: ↑Tue Apr 22, 2025 10:14 am Top players from ….

That is how open borders works.
The rest of the teams main focus should be on Development as U13 is a development year.
U14 will introduce contact and everything will change..... it'll all work out.
You guys have no idea what you are talking about. Did anyone watch the OHL cup for U16? It was all speed, skill and Hockey IQ. Very little hitting and 0 penalties. The game has changed. Not sure for the better or worse but its not tough hockey anymore.

Nobody said anything about hitting. I said gritty kids who look to make the play. Looking to make the play = hockey IQ. And yes, size will matter. Yes, there is a lot less hitting at U16 once the dust settles from the first couple of seasons of hitting. By that time, the game is more finesse and play making, while still maintaining grit.

Who did PP lose/ cut?Guest wrote: ↑Thu Apr 24, 2025 11:53 amGuest wrote: ↑Thu Apr 24, 2025 11:19 am Been pretty quiet in here is everyone set for next year ?
PP is done.. 6 changes. 4 coming from COW. 2 from the AA system. team has a different look... although only tryout skates, a convincing 4-2 win against QRD (with both teams having a few key players out of the lineup) was nice to see. PP could be in the mix this year.

Not sure who they lost but I heard many are opting for AA vs another AAA centre since OHF’s are this year.
Re: 2013 ETA
Some left for the AA team, as AA is a winning team in P.Guest wrote: ↑Thu Apr 24, 2025 5:15 pmWho did PP lose/ cut?Guest wrote: ↑Thu Apr 24, 2025 11:53 amGuest wrote: ↑Thu Apr 24, 2025 11:19 am Been pretty quiet in here is everyone set for next year ?

Which for some is what matters more, kids sick of losing at this age

Their D left because their D coach is a donkey and no one likes him. Imagine your kid playing on a team and both coaches are coaching their kids on F and D at a U13AAA level. What a mess they have on their hands in WW

I see WW is only going with 16 kids too. Not sure if they are short a D or F.
