Clattenburg to Edmonton A 5th Round Steal or a Reach?
So, Edmonton locks up Clattenburg to an entry-level deal. Interesting move considering his production so far in the OHL. 10 goals and 8 assists in 22 games isnt exactly screaming top-six forward. Are the Oilers hoping for a late bloomer here, or are they simply filling out organizational depth? Is this a sign of desperation in their prospect pool?
I predict Clattenburg spends a couple of years in the AHL before even sniffing NHL ice. He might become a serviceable bottom-six player, but I dont see any star potential. What do you all think? Is this a smart move by the Oilers, or are they overvaluing a middling OHL player? Am I being too harsh? Lets hear your takes. Where do you see Clattenburg fitting in with the Oilers long-term plans?
