Some parent asks others in the youth hockey community about their experiences with private schools and the responses are "no one cares about your kid", "make more money" and "your kid isn't talented"?? Are you all braindead? Do you actually speak to people this way? Think this way? Despicable. No wonder bullying and toxic team culture is so prevalent in this sport. You folks are the problem. Be better. You're raising future citizens.

Woke liberal!
This comment will likely be lost on well over half of this cesspool, but I find it interesting that when someone makes a comment about some pretty basic decency they are branded a "woke liberal". Believe it or not, it's possible to be a conservative and not be human trash. I admit, it's becoming increasingly rare... but we still exist.

To the OP, you nailed it. That's exactly why toxic behaviour exists in youth hockey. You need look no further than this website to see the role models of a lot of these kids.

I went for a tour there. It’s opening in September. Right beside Bill Bolton and they offer swimming. The director is a former TDSB elementary teacher and coach in GTHL. I’m considering it. Price is very good and program sounded good too.

How about schools that are in Toronto- not Aurora or another GTA suburb. Any opinions on Blyth Academy? UCC is out of most people's price ranges, especially when you're also paying your kid(s) hockey league fees and doing spring hockey/other sports.

I also saw a poster recently at my local rink about a new downtown hockey school, doesn't seem to be running yet but perhaps will be for fall. Anyone looked into this?

Same here! I'm glad to see this comment because I think the facility is great, location is awesome for downtown folks, price is good and this could be incredible as long as enough families get on board (and of course, if the families involved are good people and not some of the mouth breathing trash that troll this site with shit posts 😁). I hope they get enough folks signed up!

Blyth is a way better option than Everest because they actually hire real teachers, they don’t just push the students through.

Just remember, your kid isn’t going to be the focus of the school. Just because you send him to a private school he’s not going to have a spotlight on him and his praises sung by all the teachers and fellow students. Average in life will be average at school.

Send the little wussy to public school unless he’s reatarded and can’t read.

What’s your kid like academically? If not so great he could be limited in options. The Hill or Everest for kids that are struggling with their school work and are average players that can benefit from extra ice time and the physical activity. SAC, ST M.I.K.E.’S and UCC for smart students and elite athletes, you need to be interviewed and they will check your grades. My son also had to write an entrance exam.

Well said. The topic is over. UCC, SAC and St Mikes are where any bright person will start. Quite frankly if my kid couldn’t get in one of these three schools, public school is next best option and try again the following year. Stay focused on these three schools
