Easton Cowan's Unofficial Record and a Questionable Hit: What's Your Take?
Easton Cowan’s 56-game point streak, eclipsing Doug Gilmour's long-standing record, ended abruptly with an open-ice hit that has London fuming. Was Sandhu’s hit dirty, or simply a hard play in a fast-paced game? Where do you draw the line between aggressive checking and dangerous play in today’s OHL?
This incident raises some key questions. How much emphasis should be placed on unofficial records? Does surpassing a legend like Gilmour in this manner carry any weight? Given Cowan’s injury and potential impact on the World Juniors, does this incident highlight the risks of sending top prospects back to junior? Could the Leafs regret this decision if Cowan’s injury proves to be serious?
London’s strong reaction adds another layer to this discussion. Is this simply a case of a team protecting its star player, or is there genuine concern about player safety within the OHL? Are hits like this becoming more common, and what can be done to protect skilled players like Cowan?
Finally, let’s look ahead. How significant will Cowan’s absence be for London’s championship aspirations? Will this fuel a rivalry between London and Oshawa? Share your thoughts and predictions!

Controversial hit? There was no penalty on the play. Cowan is soft so are the London Knights.
