Such a cringe post from today. Of a "thriving" association of 1000+ members, only 19 likes. The majority of people are disgusted. The mere act of your post from today, in spite of literally 85% of this man's team leaving scathing feedback of him in surveys, is just unbelievable. Add to that, the same 85% running for the hills and signing with other organizations. Does the AMHA not realize how stupid they look? Keep thinking these posts are from the minority. They're not. You'll see soon when your org is bankrupt.Guest wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 10:59 pmOKGuest wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 10:38 pm Once again - a few people on a thread do not represent all of Aurora. He got the award because he deserved it whether you agree or not.

Why is a sitting board member receiving an internal volunteer award?Guest wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 10:38 pm Once again - a few people on a thread do not represent all of Aurora. For an internal award, it should not be given to someone on the current, sitting executive. It should be for someone coaching or helping out that is not connected to the board or if you want to award it to a board member, it should be to someone who has retired from the board but has also contributed more than attending a few meetings a year for many many years.
It just gives off bad vibes like giving coaching jobs to people on the executive who don't have the experience.
If it's an external award given to your board member, then have at it. Shout it from the rooftops!
This just gives bad vibes that you are honoring such a controversial figure. I get that not everyone is liked but if you have families leaving in droves because of them and there is a lot of negative feedback in parent surveys, kinda tells you something.
I know of a very similar situation where parent feedback surveys were done this year and there was an assistant coach who received a lot of negative feedback and families were ready to leave if they were named head coach. Guess what, they completely ignored the feedback, because they were on the executive and you know what, 6+ families ended up leaving, trying out elsewhere.
The issue with the boards is that there aren't enough outside people stepping up and getting involved. The ones that do get involved normally are "buddy-buddy" with the executive and are allowed in because the know they will tow the company line.
How pathetic is this and how pathetic is minor hockey!

The "number of likes" does not reflect the community's opinion of this coach. To say that is an exaggerated claim at best. Does it reflect the lack of engaging content on their social media accounts? Yes, absolutely. Is it reflective of a lack of followers - yes absolutely. But that doesn't support whether or not the community agrees or disagrees with the recipient choice. The number of likes speaks more to who is running their socials needing to source more engaging content and having an overall knowledge of how to grow their number of followers, but not who won an award.

Just because you like this guy and think he's a great guy, doesn't make him so. I appreciate you trying to defend him but with the posts on here, the parent survey and the volumes of families leaving the first second they can, kinds speaks to what kind of guy he really is.
You may see him during board meetings, interacting with parents or out in the community but do you really know what he's like when he's coaching? Behind closed doors?
Look, I'm sorry that you are finding out on some random message board that this guy you though was "one of the good ones" is not. It happens to the best of us. Power makes people do strange things.
Re: Aurora Hockey
Who decides who receives the Bill Dinsmore Award presented by the AMHA? How do the parents nominate their coach? How many years has this award been given out to a coach? Who are the past recipients of this award?
Why were the other awards/pictures of coaches not posted on their social media pages? I don’t see any other ones.
Why is the AMHA so insistent on making MM look good? What is going on behind the scenes? What dirt does he have on you? And why is he ruining his family’s reputation for minor hockey? Step down and move on MM.

Re: Aurora Hockey
Why the million questions? Did you want the award yourself? Associations and companies give out awards ALL the time and don't need to provide anyone with the reasons. You aren't entitled to an audit of past recipients and/or explanations of the reasons for or against the choice. This is so ridiculous. You don't agree with it fair enough that's your right but it sounds like a crusade at this point.
Re: Aurora Hockey
Don't you think it's "convenient" that a guy who has a negative reputation "wins" some volunteer award? No one has cared about the past winners but it's probably been given to someone deserving.Guest wrote: ↑Mon May 26, 2025 7:15 am Why the million questions? Did you want the award yourself? These board members need to read the room.
Re: Aurora Hockey
I agree, just like the year he "won" coach of the year. Not one of our parents voted for it. Actually I don't think anyone but H O L L Y and C O R B Y voted for it. I'm not sure what MM has on the association, but they are just as sleezy and corrupt as he is. Nobody respects the new president, we all just laugh at him when he struts through the arenas puffing his chest out.Guest wrote: ↑Mon May 26, 2025 9:25 amDon't you think it's "convenient" that a guy who has a negative reputation "wins" some volunteer award? The AMHA is a joke, plain simple. Their BS registration fee of $975 is $200 or MORE compared to other associations, and for what? What exactly does anyone get for that money? absolutely sweet eff all.
Re: Aurora Hockey
Does he wear his coat though? So you can recognize that he's on the executive and you can stop him to talk to him?Guest wrote: ↑Mon May 26, 2025 11:17 amI agree, just like the year he "won" coach of the year.
