AM34 You don’t know me, but I know you
You’re the guy all the boys wanted to be growing up
The highlight reel
The 60-goal king
The face of the game

But you don’t know what it’s like to grow up skating on cracked ponds
With second-hand skates and a dream everyone said was stupid

You don’t know what it’s like to sit in a locker room
Wondering if you’ll ever be seen
Ever be more than just a name on a tryout list

I looked up to you
I modeled everything after you
The shot
The stride
The swagger
You were my idol

But idols fade
And now I’m standing across from you
Not as a fan
But as a storm

You’re the past
I’m the future

And tonight
You’re gonna remember my name

Because I’m not here to play your game Auston
I’m here to end it and MAKE YOU BEND THE KNEE

Nobody is watching
But let’s say hypothetically my kid gets 60-70 goals during the regular season. Will that not raise eyebrows and open mouths?

If you haven’t made AAA by 15, what’s the point? No teams are going to want you and if they do it’s only for budget money, not going to see much ice time.

Guest wrote: Sun May 25, 2025 2:18 pm You know, I’ve stayed quiet long enough. I’ve watched my kid pour everything into this game. His time, his heart, his soul. Early mornings, late nights, cold rinks, empty stands. And when draft day came, when the lights were supposed to shine brightest… silence. Overlooked. Passed over. Not a call, not a glance. AAA said he’s not big enough. His all hockey school said “you’ll make the team in grade 11”, how convenient he’s “ready” right after his u16 draft year. OHL scouts said maybe next year.

I’m sick of the calls. Sick of the texts. These scouts reach out, say they’re “watching” or “you made it” and then they say they “like what they see,” then disappear like ghosts the second the conversation gets real and we commit. We were done with this 09 age group so we left it.

Well let me tell you something. He’s not waiting for next year.

Prep league is about to learn what they missed. Every shift, every puck battle, every shot. He’s coming like he’s got something to prove, because he does. He’s coming for every kid who had the easy road. He’s not the golden boy. He’s the worker. He’s the storm you never saw coming.

And when he lights it up this season, when the same people who doubted him come calling, they’re gonna have to watch him walk past without even looking back. Because my son is not just playing the game. He’s taking it over. One shift at a time.

You’ll know and hear the name soon. He doesn’t want bread crumbs, he wants that whole meal. He’ll make you sit there and watch him eat it too.

And listen, my son isn’t out here treating hockey like some fun weekend hobby, it’s his future job. That’s why I told him, forget school. Who needs to read and write when you’re gonna be the king of the NHL? You think McDavid's out here writing essays? Please. My kid treats his body like a temple, protein on protein, hasn’t touched a carb since U10. We’ve got enough supplements in the house to open a GNC. Our whole family is behind him. He’s the golden boy, he eats first, the rest of us wait and watch like it’s a royal banquet. He’s been groomed for greatness since day one. Every decision, every sacrifice, every dollar spent has been about this moment. And when he steps on that ice, you’ll see it. He’s not just playing the game…he’s rewriting the script.

Imagine putting all your time, energy and money into hockey and slowly you’re starting to realize that it’s going nowhere, it’s was a hobby for your kid, and you….thats it.

ST.MIKES is putting together a really strong team, gonna be fun to watch them in the inaugural season.
This dad sounds like he wants it more than his kid. When does the obsession stop? Where do you draw the line?
