The skill level is all over the place and it’s tough I would think as a tourney coordinator to know the skill levels of every player. It’s on the integrity of each coach to do the right thing and put their kids in the right category in the registration phase. Ironically a team called the Honey Bears loaded up what seemed to be the majority of their roster with AAA level players. Why would those parents wanna put their kids in a AA category? Possible that those kids are basically AA players in the end? Will say this…they lost 3-1 to a team that did not have AAA players on it. How embarrassing is that for that teams coaches and parents? TRUE losers
Both teams had AAA kids. It was supposed to be a fun tournament. It turned ugly due to the refs not doing their job correctly and Wilmer being a total douchebag of a human being.

Honey Bears coaching on that bench is very poor…rookie level coaching at best. All of you should just stick to the stands with your loud mouth wives and watch the game instead of pretending you know how to coach.

Then again…a few of those wives would make me not wanna start near them. Anyways…just stand somewhere else in the arena other than the players bench. Those Honey Bears are less of a hockey player today because of you.

Go figure…a goalie dad on the bench pretending he’s a coach endorsing goon hockey!!

My kid's been playing AA his whole life, but lemme tell ya, he's got that AAA dream, ya know? Just hasn’t been “offered the right opportunity.” Skipped his draft year too, cause he was, well… still playin’ AA. Strategic decision, obviously.

Look, we’re not a poor family, kid’s got the best gear money can buy. Stick budget alone could pay for someone’s tuition. Bauer everything. He's got wheels, hands, vision, he’s a beauty out there. Only thing he’s missing is a coach with eyes.

We roll into these spring tourneys like it's the Memorial Cup and come out lookin' like we just played Team Canada. Half the teams are basically junior squads with fake names like “Honey Bears” or “Ice Ninjas.” Meanwhile, we’re just trying to get a decent 3 on 2 drill in.

But yeah, sure, it’s all for the love of the game, right? Totally not about squeezing $900 outta me every other weekend while I’m eatin' arena fries for breakfast.

Anyway, see ya at the rink. I’ll be the guy yelling "Move your feet!" while sipping my third Timmies.

When teams are signed up for the wrong category it's always done on purpose with the excuse "these kids haven't played together before, we don't know how good they will be". So you are going to get an unbalanced tournament or unbalanced play for a few games before they are slotted correctly.

The blowouts are not fun for anyone and it's a wasted game for both teams.

There needs to be some vetting done by the convenors of these leagues to see the background on some of these teams.

Depends on how much money the coach wants to make

Tournaments run $125-$250 each
spring summer League $400-$900

London had some interesting games played over the weekend. Not so sure at U15 and up that the players are being held accountable by their coaches and parents. Poor referees were challenged at times!
