how do the GTHL fees compare to other leagues ? OMHA/Alliance/HEO/ ect.
Do coaches in other leagues get paid like the GTHL?
Fees are much more expensive in the G. But more ice time in general, ice is more expensive, and coaches are paid much more. OMHA coach pay is anywhere from unpaid parent to the most I’ve heard at U13 is around $15k. Would be interested to know if there are any paid more than that.
My son has played in both. OMHA team was $5.5k, GTHL team was $12k (inclusive of gate fee). The amount of scheduled ice roughly the same, but none of our OMHA coaches were paid. Our OMHA team had parent coaches who were professional instructors but unpaid, so we saved on skills training. Both teams were top 4. Spring hockey not included in either number.
No OMHA team has ever been top 4 in this age group. Nice try. It won’t happen this year either. The difference in development is very obvious when you watch GTHL teams smash top OMHA and alliance teams.
Best finish for any OMHA or Alliance team in this age group was Quinte finishing 5th last year and they got annihilated
5-1 when they played 4th ranked VK.
The G makes the others look like houseleague.
