Politics and $$$ have ruined hockey in Canada.
Team Canada outshot and outplayed every single team in the World juniors.... it started and ended with our goalies.
When you recruit a goalie from the last place team.... then prepare for last place results

Some solid points even though I don’t agree with everything. Yes, assuming a kid is elite before 14-15 is ridiculous. Kids develop at a different pace. Some kids more advanced now will continue while many will be at the level as the majority by 15. Once kids are teens the parents have very little say and the kids progression will fully be driven by self drive. Another joke is all the emphasis on the Brick. Parents think if you are in the Brick you are going far while others who are not think their kid has no talent.
I just had a quick look at Canada's roster. Out of the 22 skaters 16 were born in the first half of the year, and 6 were born in January, as many kids as the entire second half of the year. We have a serious problem with hockey in Canada and a big reason are these stupid elite teams at the earliest of ages. If your kid is born in January they have a huge advantage compared to those born late in the year.

Dave Cameron’s ego cost this team. They needed to take more goal scorers Cristall, Miss, Iginla, Lindstrom. Name me a time where top 5/10 picks from year prior didn’t make the team or the projected number one pick didn’t. To not not even invite Misa to the camp is an overt snub and political decision. Clearly Cameron or HC have an issue with Miss.

Barkley has chemistry with Cowan and left off too.

Canada needs to wake up and realize that we need to leave the politics on the sidelines.

I've been saying this for years. Hockey USA numbers are increasing, hockey enrollment in Canada, decreasing. It's panic mode, how can you tell - open boarders for OHF. Check their financial reports. The money is leaking.

Check out the IIHF rankings, Canada has 587 000 registered players, USA 566 000 registered players, then just over 500 000 globally. Registration is not a problem, the problem is real development is focused on kids whose parents can pay big $$$, without actual potential or ability considered. Hockey is a niche sport that barely anyone plays, to not get minimum silver without trying is pathetic.

The same US team that got spanked by lowly ole Finland? Or grossly outshot by Canada if it were not for 20 mins in PP time the US received too?
