Check out the IIHF rankings, Canada has 587 000 registered players, USA 566 000 registered players, then just over 500 000 globally. Registration is not a problem, the problem is real development is focused on kids whose parents can pay big $$$, without actual potential or ability considered. Hockey is a niche sport that barely anyone plays, to not get minimum silver without trying is pathetic.
